Earth movements_> meaning/causes, internal (endogenetic) vs external (exogenetic). constructive vs denudational forces. Endogenetic forces_> catastrophic (earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis) and diastrophic (epeirogeny—emergent/submergent, orogeny—mountain building). Orogeny_> folding and faulting. Folding_> compressional deformation. Types—symmetrical, asymmetrical, monoclinal, isoclinal, recumbent. Overthrusts, nappes (Himalayas). Himalayas_> young fold mountains, uplift, seismic, marine fossils, Indo-Eurasian collision. Faulting_> Normal, reverse/thrust, step; horsts and grabens; examples—Rhine, African Rift, Narmada–Tapi. Fold mountains_> Arc-shaped, margin-focused. Exogenetic forces_> Weathering, mass wasting, erosion.
